Job Summary

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY

 

This is a highly unique role at an innovative, fast-growing value-based healthcare company. WellBe began serving its first patients in 2020 and has been growing at a 150% average growth rate since inception. Because WellBe’s contracts with MA plans are structured as value-based care full-risk arrangements, our actuarial department is growing as well. As the fifth actuarial employee, you will be tasked with helping to build the actuarial function. This job has significant long-term growth opportunity.

 

We are looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join our team and support our actuarial functions. In this role, you will be responsible for developing actuarial financial reports, eligibility and claims analyses, utilizing IBNR assumptions, utilization reporting, revenue analysis and forecasting, coding for data processing, and any other ad-hoc analyses. They will work in partnership with Finance, Reporting, Analytics, and IT/Data Management leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills including coding and model development, analytical skills, experience in healthcare actuarial analysis, and excellent communication skills.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • WellBe intends to bring actuarial financial reporting in house in calendar year 2025. This role will be the technical actuarial lead for building and producing monthly financial and utilization reports.
  • Collaborate with data team to assist with data collection and preliminary analysis of data
  • Run queries from WellBe data warehouse to extract summaries feeding financial and utilization reports
  • Produce reconciliation reports to ensure financial results are consistent with data sources
  • Summarize why emerging experience has changed in comparison to expectations
  • Support senior actuarial analyst in developing actuarial models
  • Compile reports summarizing emerging experience and trends

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
  • On track to obtain ASA; passed at least 2 actuarial exams
  • Minimum 1 year of actuarial experience, preferred 2-4 years
  • Coding experience
  • Preferred healthcare experience

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and coding
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to learn and develop skillset needed to work for a value-based care provider

 

Travel requirements: Travel may be required up to 10% locally or nationally

 

Work Conditions: Ability to lift up to 20lbs. WellBe is currently working in-person in the office (Chicago). Work from home is available to remote employees.
